Pre-Funding vs. Post-Funding

Edited

You can fund your workspace before or after you approve payouts. Both work in the same workspace, and you can use both.

Pre-funding

Add money to your workspace first. Approved payouts are paid from your available balance.

Pre-funding works well when:

  • Your budget is set and the money is available ahead of time

  • You want vendors paid quickly, without waiting on a finance step

  • You want predictable funding cycles

Post-funding

Add and approve payouts first, then create a funding invoice for exactly what you’ve approved. Your finance team pays the invoice, and the payouts are paid once the money arrives.

Post-funding works well when:

  • You want each payment traced to a specific invoice

  • Approvals need to happen before any money moves

  • Payments need to line up with specific deliverables

Either way, every deposit is tied to your workspace’s records, so your finance team can audit where each payment came from.
